Gospel music has many great performers and Elaine Norwood truly belongs with the best. She has the ability to deliver with great emotion and passion. With each song she paints a story and takes the listener on a musical journey that reconfirms her devotion and love of God.
With an early start in the church the foundation was laid for formal vocal training at El Camino College. The desire for excellence caused her to seek tutelage from a staple of The Thomas Whitfield Company, the late Mr. Winston Poe.
She has enjoyed recording and performing with some of the industry’s most respected secular and gospel artists including Edwin Hawkins, Thomas Whitfield, Nancy Wilson, Angela Winbush, The Isley Brothers and Mariah Carey. With these accomplishments, television was the next natural venue to display her unlimited talents. She has appeared as a background vocalist on the American Music Awards, The Arsenio Hall Show, The Today Show, Good Morning America, BET and The Easter Seals Telethon. She currently serves as the Minister of Worship at the Home Assembly Church in Los Angeles, CA.
Ms. Norwood’s illustrious career in both secular and gospel music serves as the foundation for her ultimate decision to minister “Gospel Music”. This young woman from Prentiss, Mississippi with an infectious smile, always gives her best whenever she is called upon to minister for the Lord.
She reached out to the Lord and he has truly directed her way. Blessed with the gift of song like a bird, her spirit is free to minister in His name.
